MD Medicine is a 3-year postgraduate Medical course. The course is based on gaining in-depth knowledge of one's chosen field of specialization. As per the National Medical Commission (NMC) formerly known as the Medical Council of India (MCI), the course is conducted for a total duration of 3 years in multiple specializations.

Eligibility Criteria for MD Medicine
1. Eligibility for the MD course is restricted to those holding the M.B.B.S. degree. The certification must be from a university that is acknowledged by the Medical Council of India.
2. Percentage criteria may vary from institute to institute. Training is attained in medical disciplines which are non-surgical in nature such as Internal Medicine, Radiology, Pathology, etc. Rank obtained in an entrance examination forms the basis for admission.
3. Admission to all medical courses in India is based on the results of the NEET entrance examination. Because MD is a postgraduate degree, candidates must have a NEET-PG score/rank in order to be admitted to one of the MD specializations in India.
4. Some institutions may conduct a personal interview as part of the admission process.
Admission Process
1. Colleges publish notice of admission on their website from a period of June when most Indian universities would have finished degree exams.
2. Candidate to apply for each college, as each college considers each mark as the cut-off mark.
3. Some private colleges and deemed universities perform their counselling process by conducting their university-level entrance exams.
4. Some colleges require a minimum of 50% aggregate in the qualifying examination.
5. Candidates who qualify for the test are called for an interview before the final seat allotment.

There are diverse job opportunities for students after completing an MD. There are ample job opportunities for MD Such doctors possess clinical expertise and they are always in demand. MD Medicine postgraduates are also hired by military services and biomedical companies.
After the completion of MD they may begin working in different Government hospitals as well as private hospitals and nursing homes. In private hospitals, the respective governing body determines the salary of the doctor.
